Patrick Grower
I grew up in Madison County, Mississippi on my grandfathers old dairy farm. It was basically my playground as a young child and teenager. My father was not much of hunter, except for the my one dove hunt with him at age seven (Blog - First Hunt), so I did not get into hunting until I was in college except for the occasional squirrel hunt with a friend of mine. When I arrived in the Mississippi Delta as a freshman at Delta State University I was introduced to a whole new world. At first I did not really get the whole hunting thing, however it looked fun. You see I was a golfer and  on scholarship, which meant a lot of practice. But some of my fraternity brothers took me under their wing and the rest is history. Obsessed would be an understatement. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about hunting or talk to one of my hunting buddies.

As I have an grown older and as one friend would say I have moved through the "stages of hunting", I have come to realized it is not about the successful hunts but the memories and friendships I have created over the years. Yes there have been some great hunts with limits of birds, but the friendships are what I have come to cherish. Reflecting on those friendships I realize everyone has a story of how they got into the world of hunting. As my son has started hunting and getting to be there for his first buck, dove, mallard, first duck hunt for that matter I realized the hunting world is bigger than one person, it is a community. The stories we have captured of his hunts are  what he and I always discuss and the daily question from him, "Dad when does hunting season open". This reminds me of when I first started hunting and the eagerness he has for the next adventure. But we all have a story and we all have the things we hold dear. Whether that be a special hunt each year or tradition within your camp, we all have those special times. The purpose of  The Story of the Hunt is to capture these and share them with the world.

My late night brain child idea was to capture and tell people's stories.

Hope you all enjoy!

Cheers!
